exploring abstraction and the degrees to which conscious and unconscious decisions, movements, etc going into making the works. this section is as close to ‘pure’ as possible, ie. the marks were made without my eyes on them, they were the protective paper underneath a painting as i worked on something else. or in the case of the blue paper towels - what i wipe my hands with to remove the paint from my hands.

for me, this is important as i continue my research into what happens when I paint. what is abstraction?
